JHS Panther Cub Delay Pedal

JHS introduces the new Panther Cub Delay, featuring eight Bucket Brigade chips with up to 1.1 seconds of delay time.

Panther Cub Delay

It is based on the Panther Analog Delay, having the same capabilities and adding a few improvements – all while having a smaller overall size.

JHS describes the pedal as their most complicated pedal to date, carrying modern features while retaining 100% analog circuitry. Here is what they had to say: “We are proud to bring to you the Panther Cub. True Bucket Brigade delay that has the tone and options to cover any style, any use, and any player.”

At the core of this stompbox are eight 3208 Bucket Brigade chips, assembled in Kansas City, USA to produce analog quality delay that go up to 1.1 seconds. The use of bucket brigade chips are favored because of its classic sound, it has less high frequencies than digital delay but adds more depth and warmth to the delay sound. The resulting effect sounds less harsh and is easier to fit into recordings.

Traditional delay controls are provided including dedicated knobs for Mix, Speed, Depth and Feedback. JHS then took it a step further by expanding the Panther Cub’s maximum delay time, measured to be 1100 milliseconds and can be achieved by cranking the Time knob. Another useful addition to the pedal is the ratio knob which you can set to either 1/4, 1/8, dotted 1/8 and triplet.

JHS added a soft touch tap tempo foot switch for syncing your delay effect to actual music. The other footswitch is for engaging or disengaging the effect, when bypased your signal goes directly to the next pedal or amp.

Opening the pedal’s front panel, you will see that JHS added a “Roar” switch, this will let you choose between 2 modes of oscillation. Other advanced features include EFX Loop via TRS Splitter that affects repeats only, True Speed LED indicator and Assignable expression pedal control.

According to JHS they have improved and strengthened Feedback and Oscillation, as well as the overall definition and strength of the effect sound.

The Panther Cub Delay pedal is scheduled for release on the upcoming “Black Friday” (November 29, 2013). It is expected to carry a tag price of $349. You can visit JHS Pedals for more information.
