The company claims that this is the first pedal to genuinely reproduce high-gain tube amp characteristics in a compact pedal form factor, and this is a big claim considering the many analog and digital effects are claiming the same thing.

The Palladium Gain Stage pedal goes beyond conventional pedal designs because of its unique architecture, which is designed by Seymour Duncan to reproduce the full-bodied depth and character that high gain tube amps bring about.

Max Gutnik, SVP of products and CRO of Seymour Duncan, said, “We are very excited about Palladium. We wanted to create a pedal that brings the richness, depth and versatility of a superior high gain tube amp, without the tonal compromises that typically go with distortion pedals. We believe guitarists will love the complement of sounds they can get from Palladium.”

And it’s not just about providing generic high-gain tones because this pedal was designed with sonic versatility in mind. The Palladium Gain Stage pedal features three gain stages, the first one lets you control overall saturation, then there’s a resonance control for shaping the low frequency gain, and last but not the least is a boost control that lets you add overdrive at the beginning of the audio signal path. These three gain stages allow for a wider variety of tones from classic rock at lower settings to modern metal at higher gain settings, and you can used them to replicate your favorite overdriven and distorted tones or personalize to your preference.

You can pair this pedal with a power amp to use it as a tube preamp, or use it to drive a clean guitar amp much like a regular pedal. You can then tweak the controls to find the high gain sound that you want. It can also be paired with a distorted amp to tighten the sound some more for increased sustain and saturation during solos. This setup versatility makes the Palladium a valuable tool for musicians who are looking for a portable solution to their high-gain needs.

Further tone shaping is provided by the Seymour Duncan Palladium’s advanced EQ controls which include bass, treble, presence and a sweepable midrange-frequency knob. These are useful for matching the sound of the pedal with your guitar and amp configuration.
