Suhr Rufus Fuzz Pedal

Suhr expands their pedal line with the new Rufus, a dual-voiced fuzz pedal with built-in 3-band EQ.

According to the official press release, this new stompbox produces a variety of fuzz tones with tube-like response and dynamics.

To cover more tonal ground, Suhr equipped Rufus with two distinct Fuzz modes – Normal and Fat. Suhr hints on what each mode sounds like: “Whether your tastes are for the historic tones created at The Fillmore East back in ‘69, or you crave the more aggressive, mid-scoped characteristics of the Grunge-era, Rufus has you covered, and then some.”

To allow switching between modes without adding another footswitch, the company developed what they call Multi-Function Technology or mf(x), which lets you seamlessly switch between two user modes by simply holding down the foot switch. It is also designed with built-in memory that loads up the last mode you were using as you start up the pedal.

Further tone shaping is provided by the pedal’s unique 3-Band EQ, featuring knobs for controlling the bass and mid frequencies and a selector switch for the treble section. Suhr also mentions Rufus is designed to work just as well with electric bass guitars. Essential knobs for controlling Fuzz and Output level are also provided, allowing for even more shades of fuzz to play with.

Ensuring compatibility with modern guitar rigs with buffered devices like tuners and other pedals, the input section is optimized to handle both buffered and dry signals. It also features True Bypass, a staple feature found in today’s boutique pedals that completely removes the circuit from the signal chain when disengaged.
