TC Electronic Sentry Noise Gate

TC Electronic expands their TonePrint line yet again, this time with a versatile noise gate pedal, the Sentry Noise Gate.

TC Electronic Sentry Noise Gate

This new release follows a week after they launched the Hypergravity compressor, and is a sure sign that the company is not slowing down, even in the midst of news that their mother company TC, was up for grabs.

Speaking of Hypergravity, the new Sentry Noise Gate features the same MD3 algorithm that is based on their popular studio processing gear System 6000. Only this one is primed to provide studio quality hum canceling and buzz killing action.

For precise and seamless noise reduction, this pedal comes equipped with studio quality multiband gating functions. This allows for surgical noise busting, gating only unwanted noise while letting the details of your guitar tone pass through. TC Electronic says that this makes the pedal flexible enough to handle even subtle noise gating duties, going beyond the usual high-gain cleanup that noise gate pedals are most commonly used for.

For those looking for old school gating, you can check out the pedal’s classic hard-gate mode. This mode is ideal if you’re looking for a no-nonsense way of stopping guitars with the highest of gains, and ensuring that you’re instrument stays quiet during your rhythmic riff breaks. The company utilized a soft knee gating curve that avoids unwanted stuttering by allowing the signal to decay more naturally.

For a more transparent gating, the pedal comes with a loop send/return section, which lets you silence pedalboards and amps while allowing more of the feel and dynamics to shine through. Tone geeks will find this feature useful for sidechaining and for setting up complex signal routing. Combining all these features along with the Damp, Threshhold and Decay settings allow for a wide variety of uses and settings, to achieve hum free professional sounding tone.

Finally, Sentry Noise Gate’s comes with TC Electronic’s impressive TonePrint technology which allows for even more parameter editing. You can either create your own custom settings via the TonePrint Edit app, or utilize user and artist created presets. It expands the already versatile features of the pedal even further.

The new TC Electronic Sentry Noise Gate is set for release early October with an estimated retail price of $129.99. For further details, you can visit TC Electronic.
