Visual Sound introduces a pedal that lets you have quick and accurate tempo synchronization, the Time Bandit.
This pedal is not an effects pedal, it is a tool for locking in your tap-tempo equipped pedals into your desired bpm.
Time Bandit is intended to assist guitarists in fully utilizing their Tap-tempo equipped pedal effects. It captures audio click tracks and turns them into tap tempo signals for accurately controlling time-based effect pedals that have external tap-tempo jacks.
Another nifty feature of the Time Bandit is its BPM generator which is controlled by a large knob. It lets you send your desired BPM settings to your delay and other time-based effect pedals.
These features make it a convenient tool both in the studio and in live performances. In a studio situation, you can have perfectly timed delay effects as the Time Bandit syncs your time-based effects (delays, tremolos, and others) with the track’s exact tempo.
All you have to do is connect a click track to the Time Bandit, then connect the output to your pedal’s Tap Tempo input, and it will adjust the delay time accurately. Since playing to a click track is quite the norm in studio recording sessions, Visual Sound Time Bandit is quite handy for quickly and accurately syncing your time-based effects.
In live performance, if your band, or your drummer is playing along with a click track, the Time Bandit simplifies set up by letting use the drummer’s click track signal to perfectly sync your effects. For songs that have multiple tempos and changes, the Time Bandit will automatically adjust and follow the tempo changes.
Aside from synchronization, the Time Bandit pedal can also act as a BPM (Beats Per Minute) generator. You just turn the large dial until the desired BPM is displayed in the bright LED window. Time Bandit will then send that tempo information to your delay pedal with no tapping required. Interestingly, this particular feature was requested by the band, Paramore.
