S-Gear for Mac Released

Tube and Analog purists rejoice, Scuffham Amps has released a Mac OSX version of S-Gear, a new digital toy to secretly play with when nobody is looking.

Scuffham adds another amp simulator to the growing market of digital guitar amplifiers. To distinguish the S-Gear from the crowd, Scuffham designed the S-Gear to be a virtual guitar amplifier that has its unique flexible tonal characteristics and comes with its own set of convolution powered cabinet simulations.

The new Mac version of S-Gear has the same set of features and functionality as its Windows counterpart. It recreates the characteristics of tube preamps and power amps by employing digital filters that act like the classic guitar amp circuits. It carefully mimics the interaction between tube stages and circuitry to produce a detailed sonic imagery of the compression, clipping and frequency response of a real tube power amp.

Another key feature of the S-Gear is its 64bit processing Pro Convolver. It is able to deliver sophisticated and detailed speaker cabinet sims that is designed to be practical and compatible with today’s computer based audio setups. You can mix and match cabinets and mic placement to get your desired sound. It also features a selection of cabinet and impulses from Redwirez collection, including 1×12″, 2×12″, 4×10″ and 4×12″ cabinets, dynamic and ribbon mic options and a variety of mic placements.

To encourage closet digital audio fanatics or even the snob tube purists, Scuffham Amps has a 15 day trial version of S-Gear available on their site so you can try before you buy. You can also avail of a 10% introductory discount when you purchase the S-Gear, which is valid until November 14, 2011.
