Variax now follows the naming convention used on Line 6's latest products - HD, which signifies improved sound and playing experience.
The Variax HD Upgrade is meant to revitalize your Variax instrument with a host of new and improved sounds. Utilizing the latest modeling technology that they used on their popular line of amp and effect modeling pedals, Line 6 rebuilt the guitar samples from scratch to improve the sonic character and the instrument's playing response.
The software update also introduces a number of new sounds from rare vintage electrics to classic acoustics and exotic instruments. According to Line 6: "... each HD instrument delivers superior articulation and exceptional feel—perfect for capturing inspired performances."
Aside from sonic improvements, the Variax HD upgrade also introduces an improved way of customizing guitar models via the new Workbench HD Software. Through this software, you can mix and match different HD body styles, HD pickups and components to get the sound that you prefer. It gives you full control over the characteristics of your virtual instrument, with parameters for string pitch, pickup position, string volume and many more.
The interface is also designed to be easy to use, which makes crafting your personalized virtual guitar easy and convenient. Workbench HD also lets you mix the natural pickup sounds of your James Tyler Variax with the virtual pickup models for even more sonic variations.
Line 6 labels the James Tyler Variax guitars as versatile recording instruments - simplifying setup while expanding electric and acoustic guitar tone options, reducing tuning issues, alternate tuning options, removing pickup noise, and more.
