MP3 WATERMARK PROTECTS COPYRIGHT Cognicity Ships First-Of-Its-Kind Transactional Watermarking Technology to Protect MP3 Copyrights Record labels, artists, and music providers have a new tool to help them protect the copyrights of music that is downloaded over the Internet. Cognicity has announced the availability of AudioKey MP3 tMark Version 1.0, the online music industry's first transactional watermarking solution for MP3 music downloads. This new technology can embed unique watermarks into digital audio files in real-time -- as the file is being downloaded. Content owners need the transactional watermark solution to fingerprint MP3 downloaded and streamed music so they can identify those who abuse content distribution rights. "Finally, regardless of whether a content provider's business model supports an "open" standard MP3 or an encrypted DRM solution, Cognicity's AudioKey MP3 tMark provides the accountability that content owners require", said Dr. Ahmed Tewfik, CEO and President of Cognicity.Ty Rauber, CEO of Digital Media On Demand (DMOD) said, "We intend to use AudioKey's tMark together with our encryption technology to create a stronger solution. We will have the best of both worlds." The identity of the consumer making a download transaction is embedded into the MP3 track as it is being downloaded utilizing AudioKey's tMark solution. "This real-time process is very fast" (3-5 seconds vs. several minutes for conventional watermarks) says Michael Fitts, President of Indiego Global Distribution, "and will not impact the consumer download time. We believe this approach will help to keep the honest people honest. For a limited time and for qualified partners, a FREE AudioKey MP3 tMark starter version is available. This will allow content owners and online merchants to experiment with transactional watermarking at no cost or risk.
