LAND YOUR BAND iCAST Promotes Undiscovered Bands With Leading Infinity Radio Stations and Major Record Labels iCAST has announced a nationwide music promotion program that will help put unsigned bands on top radio stations, as well as qualify them for major outdoor music festivals, cash awards and meetings with major record label executives. Bands can upload their music on icast.com, where its online community will help break down the barriers of discovery for unsigned bands by recommending their favorite musical acts to radio program directors looking for new talent. Participating Infinity radio stations in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, DC will choose from among the highest-rated bands on icast.com and feature them on their local music shows, invite them to outdoor rock concerts and award a grand prize of cash and an endorsed introduction to major record label executives. For more information, including details on how to enter, go to www.icast.com/community and look for links to "Land Your Band." iCAST is teaming-up with five market-leading alternative rock stations across the country to produce "Land Your Band": WBCN, Boston; WHFS, Washington; Live 105, San Francisco; WXRK, New York; and KROQ, Los Angeles. Program directors and managers at participating stations will promote "Land Your Band" on the air and use the online ratings system to review and feature new music on their local music shows. Participating record label executives will include Don Ienner, chairman, Columbia Records/ C2 Records; Polly Anthony, president, Epic Records; Craig Kallman, executive vice president, Atlantic Records/Big Beat Records; Dave Loncao, executive vice president, Road Runner Records and Greg Thompson, general manager, Electra Records. "This is another great example of how iCAST can be a platform for talent discovery and promotion in the new media entertainment world," said Margaret Heffernan, CEO, iCAST. "We're thrilled to collaborate with these leading radio stations and to provide our Web site as a means to find popular and undiscovered talent." " 'Land Your Band' shows how the Web and online communities can really level the playing field for aspiring bands," said Phil Zachary, VP, general manager, WHFS, Washington. "This is a terrific chance for undiscovered bands to shine, regardless of their financial backing, contacts in the industry or demo package." "We're excited to be a part of such a interactive and creative program to find and promote up-and-coming talent," said Steve Kingston, program director, WXRK, New York. " We look forward to using 'Land Your Band' to scout bands for 'The Dysfunctional Family Picnic' in June."
