Modes for 7B Tuned 7 String Guitars

In response to the growing cries for 7B tuned bits, here are the Modes for 7B tuners.

Recommended Listening = Steve Vai “Blue Powder” + Tony Levin “Pillars of Fire”.

…and remember, Practice = perfect!

And some food for thought… The most important thing to remember about modes is that after you have stripped away the jargon, each of the 7 positions has the same notes as the next.

Here we have all the modes: Aeolian, Locrian, Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, and Mixolydian:

This week, Ernie Ball Co. write to say…

Dear SevenStringGuy,

We manufacture 7-string sets. They are:

Super Slinky – 9,11,16,24,32,42,52

Regular Slinky – 10,13,17,26,36,46,56

Power Slinky – 11,14,18p,28,38,48,58

If you are used to using Hybrids, but still want to get the 58 on the lowest string, you might be better off doing what you are already doing – buying a 58 single string. Other than that, we do regularly sell the above listed 7-string sets to our customers.

“Your web site is awesome and has great info!”

…so writes Byron Smith, Product Manager at Ernie Ball Co.
