SEVEN STRING GUY
by Guy Pople, our 7 String Guy

Here are some Power-type chords for all the 7B tuners. The 4th & 5th chords are the most common"power" chords . There are however other voicings that will take to overdrive with some tasteful usage/experimentation e.g.

E min3 {E G}
E Maj3 {E G#}

E b5 {E Bb}

E min6 {E C}
E Maj6 {E C#}

E min7 {E D}
E Maj7 {E D#)

E octave (E E)

E add b9 {E F}
E add9 {E F#}

E add 11 {E A}

E min13 {E C}
E Maj13 {E C#}

E sus2 {E F# B}
E sus4 {E A B}

Try and put some of these combinations together.Dont expect them to be user-friendly at first...many will need to be carefully persuaded.

Dont worry too much about the names, only the sound matters. I shall deal with naming chords at a later date.

Remember that the low string can sound really muddy unless you do some serious tweaking with your EQ controls.

Recommended Listening:
"Manhattan" by Eric Johnson
"Fire Garden" ( the entire first CD} by Steve Vai
