Due to the gargantuan success of their recent compilation, 1, which has sold over 20 million copies worldwide, the Beatles earned a whopping $50 million in 2000 (all figures are in British pounds). As a result, Beatle Paul McCartney is expected to become the first pop star billionaire by the end of the year, according to the Mirror.

The Stones came in a close second at $38 million, earning most of it from the typical album sales, licensing deals, and merchandising that goes with the Stones' catalog any given year.
