OPPORTUNITY FOR CLASSICAL COMPOSERS

CARRARA EDITIONS, an Italian publishing house, of some 89 years reputtation, has been working on the MARCOS VINICIUS Guitar Collection.

The first work I have transcribed is a minuette from the Sonata in A Major by Telemann. I intend to publish renaissance, baroque and classical music for guitar, as well as works by new composers. ABOUT MARCOS VINICIUS
One of the most well konwn of Brasilian contemporaty guitarists, began his concert career at the age of fourteen and from that moment has obtained enormous success and acclaim from the public and critics and has played in the most important cultural centres of Brasil and Europe.

At only sixteen he received the 'Honorary Diploma' from the Cultural Department of Congonhas, a Brasilian city considered by Unesco to be a 'world historial asset' and in 1984 he won, by a unanimous vote, the prestigious 'National Villa-Lobos Guitar Competition'.

A regular performer during the concert seasons of the major Brasilian cities such as Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Recife and Belem, he has performed concerts in many countries such as Italy, Austria, Poland, Spain and Turchia.

He obtained his degree with the title of Senior University Teacher in the Classical Guitar from the Minas Gerais State University and is frequently invited as lector and concert performer by the important Brasilian Music Conservatories, in particular Conservatory of Recife and the High Music School of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. For his profound knowledge of guitarist repertoire, he was also invited in many TV and Radio programes.

He has performed as guest soloist with the famous orchestras such as the 'Ensemble di Milano', the 'Pernambuco Symphony Orchestra', the 'Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra' and made a memorable performance of the 'Aranjuez' with the Brasilian Symphony Orchestra receiving of the Critics Awards of 'Solist of the Year 1992'.

His sound of rare beauty and his tipical performances attract the attention of new composers who dedicate him their pieces, for example Paolo Colombo and his 'Eco di una Lauda', and Claudio Tupinambá and his 'Around the Fire'.

At present he is responsable for the Advanced Course of Classical Guitar for the Jubilate Musical Association of Legnano (Italy), and President of the Classical Guitar Academy of Milan.
