SEVEN STRING GUY by Guy Pople This week you're going to be taking a set of familiar shapes and introducing some alternative bass notes from your low string. The left column of the diagram is a simple routine of holding a Gminor then giving it an Eb, an E and then finally a C bass note. Try and pick through each variation without stopping. The right column is the same thing but using a Major shape at Bb. You should experiment along these lines so as to broaden your chord vocabulary and to revitalize some tired old shapes. Then tune your low string down to 7B and try again.
