Online Bio

Jazz guitarist/vocalist Joe Giglio lives on the upper west side of Manhattan, where he teaches improvisation. He performs every Friday evening at New York City's “107 WEST” jazz club-2787 Broadway, with such notable guest artists as Howard Alden, Peter Bernstein, Ron McClure, Bucky Pizzarelli, Joe Diorio, Mimi Fox, Gene Bertoncini, Joe Beck, Jack Wilkins, Joe Wilder, & many others, and in clubs and concerts throughout the U.S. and abroad. He has a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Jazz Performance from Purchase College, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from SUNY New Paltz.

Two new CDs featuring Joe Giglio were released in November of 2006.

“3 Spirits” by the Joe Giglio Trio – Joe Giglio-guitar and vocals; Rob Thomas-bass; and Ron McClure-bass, features original compositions, jazz standards, & songs from the 'Great American Songbook'. Four performances feature Giglio's vocals.

“Clairvoyant Avenue” by Threedom – Joe Giglio-guitar; David Shaich-bass; and Tyrone Govan-drums is not the traditional jazz guitar trio recording. Four of the performances are complete spontaneous compositions, i.e. 'free jazz', but are actually quite memorable and tuneful, while the other three tracks are very 'stretched out' improvising on, and recasting of some familiar harmonic structures. The overall vibe is 'space bop/free jazz/ funk. Of his previous two CDs, “Inside Out” and “Flashback Premonition”, the former is currently in print, and the latter will be re-issued shortly.

He has performed with “Jazz Greats” Houston Person, Joe Beck, Jack Wilkins, Howard Alden, Vic Juris, Carmen Leggio, Ralph Lalama, Joe Wilder, Yoron Israel, John Purcell, Wayne Andre, Bucky Pizzarelli, Joe Puma, Peter Bernstein, Gene Bertoncini, Eddie Bert, Ted Brown, Russell Malone, Frank Vignola, Harvie S., Bill Crow, Lynn Christie, Gerry Hemingway, and with “Pop Legend” Bobby Rydell, “Broadway Star” Melba Joyce, and “Jazz Divas” Judy Niemack and Carla White, among others. Giglio a prolific composer, with compositions featured regularly in “Just Jazz Guitar Magazine”, is writing material for his next recording, and is completing a soon to be published collection of jazz etudes.
