PATRIOTIC SONG TO SUPPORT US TROOPS Chicago-land songwriter Damon Henrichs has written a song called "I Got Your Back" in praise of US servicemen and will be donating all net proceeds to Operation Military Pride. It is available for purchase at: www.IGotYourBackUSA.com. The song is based on a poem written by Autumn Parker, whose husband is a Green Beret currently serving in Iraq. "I've Got Your Back" as a poem was originally written for Mrs. Parker's husband shortly before he left for Iraq. It expresses pride in soldiers protecting our freedoms spoken from the point of view of a soldier, his mother, wife, and child. Damon Henrichs adapted the poem to music after finding it on a discussion board and mistakenly attributed it to an anonymous Naval Chaplain. "I got goose bumps as I read it," says Henrichs. "Being a songwriter, I knew this was something I wanted to adapt to music. When I found out later who had actually written the poem, it became even more powerful to me." After Autumn Parker and Damon Henrichs contacted each other regarding the song Henrichs had written, Parker suggested donating proceeds to Operation Military Pride, an organization dedicated to sending care packages to our deployed military. "We both knew we wanted the profits to go to a military charity," says Henrichs, "but not being in the military, I was not sure what would be a good choice. Autumn suggested Operation Military Pride (www.operationmilitarypride.org) because she was familiar with their good works." After determining a charity, Henrichs quickly set up a web-site at www.IGotYourBackUSA.com to facilitate online and credit card purchases of the song, which was professionally recorded in Nashville. "These are some of the best players in Nashville," says Bob Angello, producer on the recording session. "Some of these guys play on major label sessions on a regular basis." "The web-site is great," says Henrichs, "you can purchase the CD, learn the full story about the song, hear the original 'demo version' of the song, even send messages to the troops." At $10 a copy, "I Got Your Back" is a pretty expensive song single. Of course, with all net proceeds going to Operation Military Pride, it's more like getting a free CD single for making a small donation towards care packages being shipped to overseas troops. In fact, you can purchase the CD for $4.00 and have it sent directly in a care package to a serviceperson. "I'm not even from a military family," says Henrichs, "I just was moved by this poem. The way I see it, these guys have been protecting our backs for years and years, and sometimes that's a pretty thankless job. The song, in conjunction with Operation Military Pride, provides people like you and me with the opportunity to say to the men and women of the armed services: 'I've got YOUR back'." Also: |
