GIBSON'S INDESTRUCTABLE AMPS

Gibson Labs' Indestructible Amplifiers have been selected by the Pasadena Museum of California Art as representing the most innovative and important design in California. Created by Gibson Labs, the technology division of Gibson Guitar Corp., the sleek power amplifiers will be featured in the inaugural California Design Biennial exhibition, June 21 to Sept. 13 at the museum.

"Our Gibson Labs team, which is based in Sunnyvale, California, worked very hard to set new standards for every facet of amplifier design," says Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibson Chairman and CEO. "The Indestructibles have already attracted a great deal of attention from sound system contractors, and we are honored that our efforts have now been recognized by such a prestigious organization as the Pasadena Museum of California Art."

The rugged Indestructibles feature a die-cast aluminum chassis and enclosure and are the most powerful amp in the lowest rack profile on the market. The faceplate has a clean look with an aerodynamic grill and die-cast chrome-plated door, which allows the control panel to be concealed. The impact-resistant design can withstand a six-foot drop on concrete.

"The Indestructibles are the visual expression of the high technology standards at Gibson," says Daniel Ashcraft, President & Creative Director of Ashcraft Design and the lead designer on the project. "The design is the ultimate in performance, control and reliability on the market."

The amplifiers are part of an inaugural exhibition which, according to the PMCA, "will raise awareness of California's role as an international design center while exploring the ways that design impacts and inspires everyday life." There are five categories represented: consumer products, fashion, furniture, graphic and transportation, with 100 works on display. The amplifiers have been recognized in the consumer products category. For more information on the exhibition, go to http://www.pmcaonline.org
