GILBERT ISBIN'S LATEST RELEASE A new solo guitar CD 'Red Wine', my 11th album thus far, is just out on the German label Traurige Tropen with originals and arrangements of Little Wing (Hendrix), Nuages (Django) and a medieval Flemish song. My style combines classical, jazz and world influences. You can hear some soundclips on http://users.pandora.be/gilbert.isbin/soundclips.html Biography: Renowned Belgian acoustic guitarist GILBERT ISBIN's early influences, from classical, to jazz, blues, ethnic and freeform music, has ultimately contributed to his now distinctive and refined style. His music transcends the dualities of classical/jazz and composed/improvised music and is filled with strong melodies, rich colourful harmonies, sound effects and polyrhythms, highlighted by delicate acoustic guitar picking. He has collaborated in concert and/or recorded with American and European players, such as Cameron Brown, Joe Fonda, Pedro Soler, Benat Achiary, Ernst Reijseger, Jan Kuijken, Michel Godard, Jaap Blonk, Fred Van Hove, John Ruocco, Alex Van De Meulebroecke, Iain Cameron, Rudy de Sutter, Sandor Szabo, Philippe Deschepper, Geert Verbeke, André Goudbeek, Iep Fourrier... Gilbert has written music with the group Elengi for the documentary films by Els Van den Kerckhove - Verhoeven ('Sappho', 'Toucouleur'). He composed music for solo, duet, trio and quartet guitar settings of which his 'Summer Moon Dance' has been added to the repertoire of the internationally acclaimed Quartetto Chitarristico Italiano. He is featured in the E-book '25 Great Fingerstyle Players' of Acoustic Guitar Workshop. |
