How Much Is My Guitar Worth?

This is one of the most frequent questions to hit the GNW editor's mailbox every week. Some of you tell me you've bought a guitar and want to know how much it's worth. Some of you want me to appraise the dusty old six-string you find in the attic. And, of course, you all want the highest valuation possible! So here are some links to help you get started.

The Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide covers collectible guitars, bass guitars, lap steels, mandolins, ukuleles, banjos, amplifiers, and effects, and it's pretty much the industry standard.

The 2013 edition available from amazon.com is the most up-to-date publication currently out there.

Guitar

Hey, I'm 15 and just started messing around with one of my dad's guitars he left me in his will.
He got it way back when he was a kid in the early 60s and has had it ever since. My older brothers said he use to play it a lot, but it's basically been sitting in it's case for 10 years. I restrung it kind of and tried to learn some songs on it. It's a Orangemen red ish Gibson. There was some inspector card in the case that showed someone doing checks on it , and serial numbers. The guitar was made in 1959. I think it's gotta be worth at least a couple thousand bucks. How much is it worth, or is it even a good guitar? I might try and sell it to get a newer better one.

How much is my as-good-as-new Simon and Patrick A3T worth?

Hello,

I'm trying to find the right price for my Simon and Patrick A3T guitar. I paid €675 (nearly $900) for it - when it was still new. There are only 3 very small scratches (side, neck and head). Here are the specs:

Woodland CW Spruce A3T
Specs
Back & Sides : Red Wild Cherry
Top : Spruce (Select Pressure Tested Solid Top)
Fingerboard & Bridge : Rosewood
Finish : Semi Gloss Custom Polished Finish
Tusq® nut & saddle by Graphtech
B-Band A3T electronics

The shop where I bought it is willing to sell it for 60%, €405 (about $530). Do you think I should give the internet a try or just sell it to the shop?

Thanks

Gibson Robert Howard Fusion Guitar

Hi, I purchased Henry Townsend's guitar from his Grandson here in St. Louis Mo. The guitar has not been touched since the day he died 2008-09. Everything is there his strap with name on it, original case. Even has original strings. I'm have some second thoughts about keeping it, I think it should be in a museum or Something. His Grammy album was mostly recorded with this guitar, he only owned 2. Where would I look for a market for something like this. Thanks
