SICK OF BEING ME: A ROCK AND ROLL NOVEL The glittering pathway leading to the palace of rock and roll is littered with broken souls, failed musicians and tragic tales. While the traditional rock and roll story often focuses on success in the face of Tap-esque drama, adversity, hedonism, drugs and the evil machinations of the suits, 'Sick Of Being Me' pulls no punches. This is a brutal look at how heroin, a broken home and failed relationships can combine to destroy a career before it has even blossomed. Touches of humour add a black edge to the tale of Paul Hazelwood, a guitarist who aspires to become a full-time musician and recording artist. His inability to deal with real life mounts as he discovers that success as a recording artist is largely elusive and minor stardom isn't all it's cracked up to be. Issues of addiciton and personal insecurity are dealt with in a sensitive manner which avoids caricaturing the junkie guitarist as he tackles lifes ups and down. Author Sean Egan has written for, amongst other outlets, Billboard, Billboard.com, Classic Rock, Discoveries, Goldmine, Mojo4Music.com, Record Collector, Record Mart & Buyer, RollingStone.com, Serve And Volley, Sky Sports, Tennis World, Uncut and Vox. This is his first novel. For more details visit the web site |
