SIMON & GARFUNKEL Simon & Garfunkel are getting together for their first tour in 20 years. The 'Old Friends' tour will cross the USA later this year. Originally starting out as Tom & Jerry in 1957, they languished in near-obscurity until folk-rock came to the fore in the mid-1960s. Producer Tom Wilson spotted an opportunity and re-worked 'Sounds of Silence' with electric guitars, bass, and drums. A number one soon followed. From there, the duo gained momentum with the album 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters' and their contributions to the 'The Graduate' soundtrack, which featured 'Mrs. Robinson'. Personality clashes, artistic differences and the success of Paul Simon's solo career resulted in the duo fading to little more than a memory of hits past.
