WHAT'S HOT WITH JAZZ GUITAR by Doc Dosco http://www.docdosco.com This week we feature guitarist Eric Byak. Do you like Brazilian Jazz, Funk, Salsa, and Nouveau Flamenco? Then perhaps Eric Byak is your cup of tea. I have crossed paths with Eric Byak several times before so I was pleased to discover he has a new project and a new CD. In addition, I did a lot of recording with featured percussionist M.B. Gordy and sax player George Shelby at one time, so it was nice to hear them play again. Eric's CD is called 'Journey of the Heart'. Check it out. Online Bio After a decade as an in-demand, behind the scenes L.A. studio cat who programmed arranged and played in countless TV and film projects, master guitarist/synthesist Eric Byak has turned his talents in an ambitious new direction. Eric can now be found center stage as the creative force in The Eric Byak Project, his stellar new group which is currently touring in support of his new CD, Journey of the Heart, on ERB Records. More than two years in the making, Journey is a stylish fusion of smooth jazz and rock elements. Each track on all the instrumental CD features Eric's seductive guitar work seamlessly interwoven with classic jazz, breezy funk, and sensuous Brazilian rhythms. Joining Eric is a tight ensemble of L.A. session and touring aces, including Frank Briggs (Atlantic Star) on Drums, Hans Zhermuhlen (Air Supply, Frank Gambale) on keyboards, bassist Baba Elefante (Brandon Fields), George Shelby (Sheena Eaton, Larry Carlton) on sax, and percussionists M.B. Gordy and Gabriel Falcon (Neil Diamond, John Tesh, Aaron Neville). On live dates, their repertoire includes tunes from the CD as well as romantically charged interpretations of jazz standards, r & b favorites, and pop classics. Eric's website and sound clips: Doc Dosco is a jazz guitarist, composer and audio consultant living in Los Angeles, CA. His website is located at http://www.docdosco.com, where you can find more information on the 'What's Hot with Jazz Guitar' columns, audio clips of Doc's playing, and many additional features. Doc endorses Heritage Guitars and is a featured artist on their website. He also endorses the new Pignose Valve Tube Amps -- great for jazz (and anything else!) |
