KIRK'S COLUMN Dropped-D finger style study and chord-figure lesson. Hi fellow twanger. I'm back again, with a couple of lessons this time. As you may have read last week, I re-opened Guitar for Beginners dot Com to be a totally free site again, just as it was when it started out years ago. I post weekly lessons there, and this week's takes a look at a chordal type of figure that you've heard many times before and that you'll have occasion to use over and over in different guises. Go to http://www.guitarfrobeginners.com, and click the "Lesson of the week" link. I've also loaded up a finger style study of a piece I wrote called "Summers End", in dropped D tuning. If you haven't already started experimenting with Dropped D, do yourself the favor. It's a beautiful and versatile tuning which is almost standard tuning, so there's not much to re-think: just the bass string. For that lesson, click http://planetalk.thatllteachyou.com/summersend/index.shtml |
