KIRK'S COLUMN Related chords in action I've written several lessons around the three major chords of the key, namely the I-IV-V chords. They are the three major chords, and by far the most important. This week's lesson looks at a very well known tune which also revolves around the I-IV-V, but uses a couple of the other related chords to link the big three up, in other words, it gets from the I to the IV via the ii and the iii. Click the "Lessons" link at http://www.guitarforbeginners.com to get there, and pardon the small speed bump in the way. If you're at a stage in your playing where you know your chords (sort of); you can play some scales (kind of); you have an idea of what 'modes' are; you can play some tunes and licks and you can fake your way through some improvisation (so long as it's twelve-bar) - You don't read notation, you're stuck in a rut and you're still looking for a way of putting it all together on the fretboard, and you want to know the TRICK then visit http://planetalk.thatllteachyou.com.
Until next week, all the best, |
