PETRUCCI TESTS STRINGS Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci demonstrates the benefits of playing with “Not Even Slinky” strings in a streaming video on Ernie Ball’s latest web promotion. Introduced in January ‘04, The Not Even Slinky electric guitar string set is currently available at various music retail outlets worldwide. With his signature Music Man guitar in hand, Petrucci compares the Not Even Slinkys to a set of lighter gauge strings while in Drop C tuning (C-G-C-F-A-D). John's testimonial provides musicians the opportunity to actually hear the difference between the strings, and have it explained by the latest Not Even Slinky fan– Petrucci himself. Among other details, Petrucci explains why Not Even Slinkys will provide musicians with the most optimal gauge combination for lower tunings. The website also links up to everything Petrucci related, giving fans a one-stop Petrucci spot. Fans of the musician can link to win a guitar, learn more about Petrucci, check out the Dream Theater page, order JP merchandise or go to a site on the New Slinky strings. Not Even Slinky electric strings feature thicker gauges providing guitarists with a bigger sound, optimal for players looking to detune their instruments. By getting the heaviest possible tone with the Not Even Slinky, guitar players WILL be noticed when plugged through their favorite amp. Gauges are .12 .16 .24P .32 .44 .56. Originally from Kings Park, Long Island, Petrucci began playing guitar at the age of 12. Though primarily self-taught, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston in the 1980’s, where he learned jazz composition and harmony. While at Berklee John hooked up with John Myung and Mike Portnoy, forming a band called Majesty (which would later be renamed Dream Theater). Dream Theater has recorded eight albums and is currently on a worldwide tour. Visit www.ernieball.com for more information. |
