KIM JADE Kim Jade, a bass player and singer/songwriter from New York has released her self-titled debut CD. "Coming in just around forty minutes, the album is a bit short by contemporary standards, but there's no filler here. It's all solid stuff, and the abbreviated presentation turns out to be a bonus - you get to hit the replay button that much sooner," freelance critic Shaun Dale writes. Kim has been gigging in cover and original bands since she was 18. She started out playing mostly heavy metal & hard rock in South Florida. Eventually, Kim found herself getting completely into blues, Motown and soul. She was really passionate about it - Kim wanted to sing like Etta James and play bass like James Jamerson and according to her own words, "she's still trying". As a bass player, she has also been influenced by Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, Sting and Geddy Lee of Rush. Kim's debut CD contains 8 tracks of soulful, bluesy rock with a retro 70's vibe. One of the songs on the record - Another Other Woman - was written by her musician parents and recorded in 1978. "I would be so happy to have some success so that I could bring some recognition to them, as well. They worked so hard and struggled so much and never had any real success," Kim comments. Kim Jade would love to be known as an artist with a positive vibe and message. "When I perform, I really try to give something to the people that are watching and listening, sometimes I forget how important it is to be a musician - we all need music in our lives," she explains. "I just want to write music and play and sing. I don't need to rule the world, I would just love to have enough success so that I can sustain myself doing the things that I love. " |
