KIRK'S COLUMN Location, location, location Hi again. All is well in Canada. The sun tracks through the sky in the opposite direction than I'm used to; the moon is upside down; people drive on the other side of the road; light switches click UP to turn on; when passing pedestrians, they move to their right, not left ... that's caused a couple of spontaneous fandangos on the footpaths - sorry, sidewalks - but all is well anyhoo, eh? I'm allowed to be flippant, of course, because I AM Canadian! Eh? This week's lesson is a real lesson. None of this pretty, finger styled classic song rendition. This is a nitty gritty look at a common sounding chordal figure, one you will recognize immediately. I do my usual turn it inside out, pull it apart and put it back together again routine, with movie, midi and tab. Go to this page: http://planetalk.thatllteachyou.com/atod/ I noticed some activity at the Slide Guitar Forum, which is still relatively new. The old, well-frequented forum was disallowed by my new hosting company because it had security holes in the script. I had to remove it. The new one is just getting some wind in its sails. I will be revamping the look soon, so please, if you are a slider or wish to ask questions about the technique, come and join up: http://www.bottleneckguitar.com If you're new to guitar, check out my totally free site http://www.guitarforbeginners.com. Plenty of lessons there ... If you'd like to hear a few of my tracks, some studio recording and some home recordings, go to http://www.soundclick.com/bands/1/kirklorangemusic.htm. Lots of slide guitar, if you're into that kind of playing. OK, all the best, until next week, |
