KIRK'S COLUMN Finger independence Yet another look at finger style guitar for you this week, another non-repeating piece to help develop your finger independence. It's one thing to learn fingerpicking patterns, and they come in very handy very often, but there's nothing quite as satisfying as playing a non repeating melody/bass line/chords piece, all in the one handful. It's certainly my favorite way of playing guitar. Go to http://www.guitarforbeginners.com, negotiate the small speedbump I put in the way, and enjoy the verse section of Mr Bojangles. There's also a good slide lesson at: http://planetalk.thatllteachyou.com/slidin/ ...demonstrates a few neat techniques, including "playing behind the slide". For any sliders out there: please, come and join the forum at http://www.bottleneckguitar.com. We need members! Happy twanging and all the best from a heat-wavy west coast of Canada.
