GIBSON A GO GO Gibson Guitar Corp. will host "Gibson A Go Go - L.A. Rock Show," a multi-act concert featuring a headlining performance by Atlantic recording artists, Shinedown on Tues. Aug. 24th at the world-famous Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles. The event is designed to serve as a talent showcase to help local, unsigned rock acts that are potentially on the brink of national success. Unsigned bands will be invited to perform in opening performance slots with Shinedown and compete for a Gibson endorsement deal and prize package. "While the history of rock n' roll and Gibson are indelibly linked, we are also a company very much about the future," said Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibson chairman and CEO. "Gibson A Go Go is a way to link the prestigious past of rock with the future stars who are working hard to get heard night after night. Our goal is to offer a platform to help these emerging talents succeed." Bands interested in entering must submit a three song demo by July 16, 2004. Initial screening will be judged by a Blue Ribbon committee of music industry professionals, including artists, managers, A&R staff and members of the music media. The top three bands will be invited to perform at "Gibson A Go Go" as an opening act for Shinedown, where a panel of judges will then award one of the competing bands a Gibson grand prize package, including a Gibson endorsement deal. Detailed submission information is located at www.gibson.com/gibsonagogo. Gibson A Go Go's headlining act and Atlantic Records artists Shinedown has enjoyed a long and stirring rock and roll tradition. Throughout their debut album, Leave A Whisper, they fully absorb influences ranging from the classic sounds of Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin to the soulful stirrings of Otis Redding to the likes of Staind and Tool - and have filtered them all through their own unique musical perspectives. Shinedown recently scored a Top 5 hit with their single, "45" on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, helping to launch their album to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top Heatseekers album chart. They are currently on a nationwide tour, including over 20 supporting dates in arenas and sheds with Van Halen. |
