KIRK'S COLUMN All in the Family The central, sturdiest, structure of Music is the KEY. How do you define the word KEY? I like to see it as a "family of 7 notes and 7 chords". The notes are those of the major scale, and the chords are those built using those same scale notes. This week's lessons looks at a progression of related chords, one that's lasted through the centuries. It's a beautiful sequence, but related chords in any order will always sound good together. Why? Because they're all from the same family -- one that gets on well. Go to the lesson at www.guitarforbeginners.com and look for the Weekly Lesson links. There's a special on at my PlaneTalk site. I have now released the video in DVD format, and I'm going to sell off the VHS version at a reduced price, until gone. You can download the PDF of the book and get the VHS sent to you for the special reduced price of $39.95. Between the book and the video, you simply can't help but learn the TRICK to keeping track of all things musical on the fretboard. A great investment if you're wondering what the real secret to improvising is. Hint: scales don't even come into it. Go to http://planetalk.thatllteachyou.com to find out how to order. All the best, enjoy the free lesson, Kirk NEXT >>> WIN A STRAT >>> |
