KIRK'S COLUMN Ninth chords de-mystified. Nine, major nine, ninth, flat nine, added nine, sharp nine ... what does it all mean? And how can there be a 'ninth note' if there are only seven in the scale? All good questions and I've attempted in this week's lesson to shine some light on the subject. It's all much easier than you may think. That's at the Guitar for Beginners And Beyond site. Go to the home page, www.guitarforbeginners.com and follow the Lesson of the Week link. The lesson may be a little advanced if you're just starting out, but worth a read anyway. My book PlaneTalk - The Truly Totally Different Guitar Instruction Book continues to reveal the 'trick' to seeing the entire fretboard as friendly, familiar territory. It has been favorably discussed at several forums and all who have bought it agree that there's no other book like it on the market. I have successfully converted the companion video to DVD. It demonstrates what the book describes and slide rule displays. I'm having a VHS clearance sale right now, so drop into http://planetalk.thatllteachyou.com for a look see. There are many free lessons there as well. All the best, happy twanging,
