KIRK'S COLUMN More phony Flamenco A couple of weeks ago I posted a lesson of some Spanish flavored picking; here is another. This is also in A minor, a key which has always seemed to be a favorite for this genre. I think the way the chords configure themselves in A minor, with the abundance of open-string possibilities in the voicings, is the reason. This lesson also plays through the i iv V chords, but in a totally different way, in fact, with a little bit of adjusting, this week's version could be the backing for the previous 'flamenco' lesson. http://www.guitarforbeginners.com...theusualroutine. Drop in to the PlaneTalk site too if you missed the latest lesson posted there. It's a look at slide in dropped D, how to sound like a pedal steel on a Strat. http://planetalk.thatllteachyou.com If you're at the stage in your playing when you wondering how to fit all the bits and pieces on the fretboard, the whole fretboard, then you need to read PlaneTalk. It teaches exactly that: an extremely compact way of decoding the fretboard, a way of looking at something you learned in the first day of playing that will become your best and most valuable tool forever more. I know that sounds ridiculously big-headed of me, but it's true. Visit http://planetalk.thatllteachyou.com for the full blurb. All the best, until next week,
