CAT STEVENS DEPORTED DUE TO ERROR Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, was deported from the USA following a spelling error that lead to him being confused with a man on the 'no-fly' list with a similar name. Time magazine reported aviation officials as claiming there was no Yusuf Islam on the 'no-fly' list, but there was a Youssouf Islam. Islam was detained on national security grounds and deported back to London, but Asa Hutchinson, the US Department of Homeland Security's under-secretary for border and transportation security, did not specify why Islam was being deported. Islam has begun legal action against US authorities.
