KIRK'S COLUMN KIRK'S COLUMN Hi again fellow twanger. As promised last week, I've done the chorus section lesson for that great finger picking classic Helplessly Hoping. All you need to do now is merge the two sections together, and then practice them 'til the cows come home. This is a very basic finger-picking pattern that can be embellished in many ways, so learn it well; it will come in handy time and time again. Go to the home page http://www.guitarforbeginners.com and follow the Weekly Lesson link. Pluck à Lorange CD giveaway The winner of last week's random draw for the Pluck à Lorange CD (34 lessons, 24 mp3s) was Howie Ulmer of Canada ... congratulations Howie. It's on its way. You can be in the running by signing the guestbook ... simple as that. Go to http://www.thatllteachyou.com/cgi-bin/gfb_guestbook/guest_gfb.cgi to leave your name. Master Lesson giveaway I'm also going to give away a Master Lesson CD this week. That's of the dropped D slide version of a very familiar sounding 12 bar blues which you can preview at http://planetalk.thatllteachyou.com/xroads/. To be in the running for that one, sign the guestbook at http://www.thatllteachyou.com/cgi-bin/pt_guestbook/guest_pt.cgi and I'll announce the winner next week. PlaneTalk, The Truly Totally Different Guitar Instruction Book, continues to amaze players who have hit the wall. Here's what I received from a recent buyer: "Thanks so much Kirk! I love it already and the "trick" is very cool I can't wait to look at my fretboard this way everyday (I can't believe after 12 years of playing guitar that I hadn't looked at it this way before)". If you're still wondering what the 'trick' is to seeing the music laid out from one end of the fingerboard to the other, then this is the book for you. It's the way someone who has been playing since 1961 (me) sees the fretboard, and it's VERY simple. It's just that it took about 25 of those years to distill it down. You can save yourself those years. http://planetalk.thatllteachyou.com is where to go to find out more. All the best, until next week,
