CHICKS WITH PICKS

Armadillo Enterprises proudly introduces Luna Guitars, a line of guitars and basses designed uniquely for females of all ages.

Yvonne de Villiers, the artist that envisioned Luna Guitars, was inspired by her pioneering mother Hilda Williers, an electric bass player for over 40 years. De Villiers has watched her mother, now almost 80 and still playing the occasional gig, struggle through her music career with large, heavy instruments that have taken their toll on her petite frame.

Because of her mother's experience, de Villiers began to incubate the idea of designing a line of guitars that would uniquely fit the feminine body but would also engage the mind and spirit. The artist had designed and produced architectural stained glass for over 25 years, and knew that the process of guitar inlay design was very similar to that of glass design.

Using the same range of luminous colors and tapping into inspirations she had used in her glass designs, de Villiers created Luna Guitars: smaller, lighter, gracefully elegant instruments.

Structurally, Luna Guitars and Basses feature slimmer necks and lighter bodies to accommodate the generally smaller and lighter architecture of the female body. Visually, the instruments offer innovative designs that enchant the heart and apprehend the eye.

De Villiers muses that "Luna, moon goddess, takes her name from the latin lucere, 'to shine.' This new line has been created to empower women, of all ages and phases, to ignite their musical talent and let it shine."
