The Buddy Guy - Junior Wells alliance was unbeatable with Juniors powerful vocals and harp playing perfectly complimented by Buddy's amazing, intricate guitar work the duo were unstoppable producing hit after hit. Buddy held this alliance until the late 1980's when he opened his own club "Legends" in Chicago and went solo.

Shortly after "Legends" opening Buddy was asked by Eric Clapton (who can be quoted as saying "Buddy Guy is the greatest guitarist alive") to perform with him in a Royal Albert Hall show in London. The impressive performance by Buddy got him signed onto Silvertone Records with which he has released a series of hit albums over the past few years including Damn right I got the Blues, Feels Like Rain and Slippin' In. Buddy Guy @ Blue Flame Café

Buddy Guy, along with Otis Rush and Magic Sam, have helped move the blues guitar into its postmodern era. With a style some believe built similar to B.B. King, Guy was both a popular session player and a successful solo artist. Jimi Hendrix is said to have admitted to being profoundly influenced by Guy, while Eric Clapton has called him the greatest blues guitarist ever. In fact, few blues musicians today can match Guy's ability to make a guitar solo the ultimate blues statement.

Buddy Guy @ RollingStone.com
In 1960 Guy signed with the famed blues label Chess Records and became a popular session guitarist, backing enshrined talents such as Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon. Guy's tortured vocals and laconic yet intricate guitar work became a Chess institution. Continues here....

Buddy Guy @ All-Music Guide
Born Jul 30, 1936 in Lettsworth, LA
He's Chicago's blues king today, ruling his domain just as his idol and mentor Muddy Waters did before him. -- Guy's first three albums for Silvertone in the '90s all earned Grammys. Eric Clapton unabashedly calls Buddy Guy his favorite blues axeman. High-energy guitar histrionics and boundless onstage energy have always been Guy trademarks, along with a tortured vocal style that's nearly as distinctive as his incendiary rapid-fire fretwork.

Buddy Guy - Heavy Love CD 1998

When it comes to galvanizing a crowd, there are few bluesmen on earth who can rock a house like Buddy Guy; not even earthquake-resistant amphitheaters are immune to his powerful showmanship, and in the open air of outdoor blues festivals, he's been known to play guitar as if he's trying to scare the sky itself. His emergence in the '80s and '90s as one of the blues' true superstars has been one of the great success stories in the history of the genre.
