Megadeth was formed in the spring of 1983, when Dave Mustaine met another Dave (Ellefson), a rocker from Jackson, Minnesota transplanted to Southern California.

Marty Friedman joined as guitarist in 1990. Seven albums later with millions of albums sold in between, Megadeth released their last album: "Cryptic Writings" in 1997.

Megadeth is set to release their ninth album for Capitol Records on August 31. It was recorded in Nashville, with producer Dan Huff once again at the helm. Entitled Risk, it features the trademark blend of power, musicianship, intellect and raw emotion that has made the band one of the mainstays of a musical and cultural movement. Leading off the charge will be the anthemic track 'Crush 'em' which will appear on the Universal Soldier: The Return soundtrack (Trauma) set for release July 13. Megadeth will be heading to Europe on tour, opening for the recently reunited Iron Maiden later in the year.
