Keep the Link Open Between Artists and Fans!

Restrictive closed format protocols such as SDMI threaten to halt the free flow of digitally distributed music from artists to their fans.

An alliance of vested interests in the music industry is attempting to impose restrictive security features on all digital music software and hardware players under the pretext of protecting themselves against piracy.

"To all manufacturers of digital music software and hardware players..."

"We the undersigned are petitioning to request that your design plans for digital music players, present and future, take into account the need to preserve the functionality to play unencrypted music files - both in MP3 format and other, future open formats."

"As musicians and consumers, we desire to continue having the choice of whether we want to distribute, download and play unencrypted music files or SDMI encrypted files, as well as continue to enjoy our right to "fair use" of such music..."
