Hi, I am writing, because I am considering trading my Eric Clapton signature strat for some kind of telecaster. I also have a custom shop strat, and after player both guitars for a few years, I've come to find that I actually prefer the sound of the single coil strat over the lace pickups.

I am wanting to start playing some rockabilly, so I thought I might keep my custom shop strat and trade my Clapton strat for a telecaster of some sort. But, I don't want to get rooked by somebody who knows more than me. What would be a comparable model of telecaster (value wise) that would have a good sound for rockabilly?

Do you need a Gretsch to really do rockabilly right??
