KIRKS COLUMN: Drop-D tuning by Kirk Lorange 'The Train' played Sydney last Saturday, our usual first-Saturday-of-the-month. We will be playing New Year's Eve, and the next night too. What I like most is that I won't have to fly back on the first flight of the Millennium. I notice that the airline I use has cancelled flights between 11pm on the 31st 'til noon on the 1st. Nothing to do with the Y2K bug, they say. Sure. Nor are the Kennedy's gun-shy... Something special for you this time. I wanted to do some graphics for you to show you some Drop D tuning stuff, so I made an html page. Thank you all of you who have ordered PlaneTalk. The new Online Shop has proved popular. Copies are winging their way to all corners of the globe. Remember to check out my two songs I loaded up, have a listen to 'the highest slide guitar note ever recorded in 'Come a Long Way': http://www.thatllteachyou.com/calw.ra In "Mess I'm in" I use a couple of over-dubbed slide guitars to emulate horns during the choruses. A neat sound, almost like a clarinet section: http://www.thatllteachyou.com/mii.ra For the rest of this article, go to: http://www.lorange.kirk.net/slide2.html Until next time, regards from Capo Lane K i r k |
