Economy Picking

	Today we are dealing with Economy Picking.  Basically Economy Picking
Is using the least amount of movement in the picking hand.  Personally I
believe this technique to be useful.  But NEVER ignore Alternate picking
exercises because you claim to use Economy Picking.  To me Economy Picking is 
just an outgrowth of alternate picking.  Without strong alternate picking 
abilities, economy picking can not work.  So when do you use economy picking?
I use it when it feels natural, like when you are playing 2-4 strings in a 
strict ascending or descending pattern.

	Take a look at the following exercise this is a hard one.  This one will
really get your picking in shape.  Start by memorizing it.  Then playing it 
slow and at as even a tempo as you can get.  As soon as possible add a metronome.
This exercise should be played in 8th note triplets against the metronome.
In this position the finger numbers are the same as the fret numbers. Play it
once in this position then move it up one position and continue.  Keep ascending
till at least the 12 fret.
