Steve Morse Exercises Pt.1

	Today we are going to work thru some picking exercises.  These 
examples come from a picking exercise that STEVE MORSE (Dixie Dreggs, Steve
Morse Band, Deep Purple) designed.  In the next lesson we will learn the 
entire exercise.  Today what we will focus on are eight individual measures. 

	First of all we want to begin developing ALTERNATE PICKING.  This 
means that the direction of the pick should continuously go up and down.
For example if the first note is played with a down stroke the second 
should be played with an up stroke and the third should be played with a 
down stroke ect ect.  Play each measure as 4 groups of 8th note triplets.  
Start slow and once you can play these in time, and with alternate picking 
begin to increase the speed (use a metronome of course) and play the measure
two times then move the entir measure up one fret and play it two more times
then one more fret, and so on until you reach at least 12 frets above where
you started.

	Remeber that he numbers below the tab lines are finger numbers.  Each
measure is very repetitive so i saw no need to number every single note.
