Re: is it safe to CHECK IN the guitar (with hardcase) when travelling using aeroplane?

: It's usually safe. But Calzone cases are the best way to
: go.Take off your strings, before flying.Wrap the case with duct tape and wrap the neck with a small towel. I also, have an insurance policy when I have to travel by
: plane.But thats just me.
: Good Luck

I always call ahead to see what kind of plane or jet Im gonna be flying on and ask about storing your guitar.....some times itll fit into an over head....sometimes they have a vertical storage locker......Ive even strapped into a seat that was unoccupied.....but I always check it at the gate if it has to be put in with all the luggage that way it doesnt get bounced around getting to the plane and they give it right back at the gate sometimes when you get off....just depends on the attitudes and the airline......oh yea and everything that Eddie said is a good idea but Ive never done any of that and have had no problems....and the key is to tell them how valuable that it is and that it needs special care...most times the stewardess will bend the rules a little for you.....godd luck....Trip
