'car' paint is fine but it depends on what you are going for, check out reranch.com thats the site for guitar refinishing

: ight i got a dean electric regular strat and its all in peices, sanded and ready to be painted...what kind of paint should i use? ive heard car paint but is there a special kind of piant i should be using?
