: : i recently purchased a nice 88 les paul custom and noticed it had a cracked but professionally repaired headstock. how significant is this to the guitar as far as value and structure?
: i know the feeling, i recently foun a 70 es330 in the trash. headstock broke clean off. its in the shop being profesionally repaired. as far as structural goes most headstock repairs hold up very good. it did however hurt the value of the axe pretty good probably 2 to 300 off the value of that one. its a shame but that guitar is now a utility piece a player a jobber. just play the thing and dont worry about the repair
: have fun
Doesn't hurt the instrument or the tone if it has been repaired properly-just pray that they used wood glue...
