I bought my FG 340II new in 1979-80...it was my first steel string guitar - I had no idea at the time what a great instrument I had. I am a professional musician and have several really "good" high-dollar guitars, but this is far and away my favorite. It has a beautiful, rich tone and plays incredibly well. It withstood years of abuse from me before I knew how to properly care for a guitar, and it has never needed any major repairs.
I stumbled on the 12-string version of this guitar in a pawn shop a couple years ago - 150.00! I, of course, bought it immediately and have found it to be equally as playable and with just as lovely a tone and temperament.
I had to laugh when I read the post about the guy who would rescue his FG first (after his family) from a fire - I have said that same thing many times. I will never get rid of this guitar - I can't believe how cheap they are...if you find one - BUY IT.
