: This was my first guitar. I bought it used in 1981, and was told Ibanez got sued because it was too close to the Gibson Les Paul. Can anyone tell me what its value would be today. It's black and in great shape in the case!
You don't supply enough information about the guitar to give a specific answer. Here's the most important questions that need to be answered:
1. What's the serial number, if there is one? THis will help determine the age of the guitar.
2. Is it a set neck or bolt on? Set necks are VERY rare and therefore more valuable.
3. What is the exact shape of the headstock? If it's the same as the Gibson, then it's more collectible and more valuable.
I'd suggest asking your question on the Discussion Board at Ibanez Collectors World. There's a section specifically for Replicas.
