Slipknot uses Carvin amps,with Mesa Boogie heads.EMG are active pickups which eats batteries.The sound is in the effects I recommend Boss or DOD stomp boxes. I have been playing for 15 years. I suggest you watch Disasterpieces. Listen to the tech's play on their gear and Root's EMG's due not sound near as good as Thompson's Warlock which I think are Seymore Duncans.Slayer uses EMG's however Dimebag Darell from Pantera uses a signature Seymore Duncan.
