Hey that other guy was full of shit. I have a epiphone les paul and my uncle used to have a standard gibson. the studio les paul doesn't have a maple body cap and has a less richer tone than the standard. in my opinion my epiphone sounds great and i even prefer it over the gibsons. the only problem with them is fret buzz but with the right adjustments you could get rid of it although the pickups are so good they don't pickup the buzz. And If you decide to go with a squire get the new squire 51 it is a combination between a strat and a tele IT IS FRICKING AWSOME it is a well made gouitar and you get A LOT of bang for your buck. the only flaw in this guitar is some slight intonation problems in the upper frets but it is very little and can be corrected with the right adjustments to the saddle.
