Cheap and somewhat effective is an item called a Bowen Handle. It's a replacement bridge for Gibson Les Paul or L6S that is a rocker type bridge with a whammy bar. You'll need to tune often between every couple songs if your playing live, and you can't get those NightRanger and EVH dive bombs, but it only costs about $20. No luthier experience needed. Then save up and buy a guitar with a Floyd in a couple years with locking nuts etc.
